Mr. Pickypants

Gibson is still being a picky eater.

And it's so frustrating!

Here's a list of the food he'll willingly eat:

  • Peanut butter sandwiches
  • Bananas
  • Grapes
  • Pancakes
  • Hamburger with BBQ sauce (sometimes)
  • Crackers
  • Applesauce
  • Oatmeal
  • Sweet potato fries
  • BBQ Chicken (sometimes)
  • Bread
...so many carbs.  You'll notice that there are NO vegetables on that list.  He doesn't even eat them when I smother them in barbecue sauce.

So for now we're just offering food all the time and hoping that he'll eat it.  He's such a turd about it...if a piece of something he "dislikes" gets into his mouth, he spits it out immediately.  But after doing that two or three times (and screaming about it) he usually decides that it might be okay and starts eating it.


It's very irritating.  In case you wondered.

But we have a fun new eating development!  Two weeks ago I taught him how to take bites off of a big piece of food instead of only eating tiny pieces.  It involved some screaming (from him, not me) and tantrums, but it's such a fun thing!

Now we can take a sandwich with us to the store instead of tiny pieces of peanut butter-covered bread that stick to the bag!  And I can put a whole banana in the diaper bag for a snack instead of having to cut it up and making a mess.

It's the best!

I'm really hoping that little Mr. Pickypants will decide that eating all the foods is a good idea again, but I guess I should be thankful that he'll eat at all!  And in the meantime, I'll just keep giving him veggie-filled smoothies.

Which he has recently decided not to drink.

  1. Add hotdogs and remove grapes and you've written my 3yo son's eating list. Oh, and switch BBQ sauce to ranch dressing. I've spoken with his Dr. about the refusal to eat anything healthy and she told me to load him up on Squeezables so that's what we do for now...We hope he'll eventually eat actual veggies, but for now I'm content with whatever I can get. It causes way less stress at meal times which results in me keeping my sanity, LOL.

  2. A child's eating habits can be very important. They have to eat healthy, but it's so difficult to stop them from eating bad food! More and more kids have started eating very poorly and that is a negative aspect on their health!
