Hem and haw

My morning so far:

Gibson tugs on my hand.

Me: Gibson, what do you need?
Gibson: *whining and tugging*
Me: Okay, fine.

He leads me to the kitchen and stands near a cabinet.

Me: Okay, what do you need in here?
Gibson: Ummmmmm.
Me: Do you need water?
Gibson: Water? Ummm. Uhhhhhh. Mmmmmm.  Mo (no).
Me: Okay, do you need milk?
Gibson: Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmm.  Uhhhhhhmmmmmm. Mo.
Me: Would you like cereal?
Gibson: Hmmmmm.  Mmmmmmmm.  Ummmm.  Mo.
Me: Well, what do you need, buddy?

Gibson then stares at me for thirty seconds.  And runs back to the living room, happy as a clam.

...and then we repeat it three minutes later.

Again and again and again.

I mean, I'm glad he's thinking about what he wants and not just accepting the first terrible snack or drink I give him.  But my hips would appreciate not being made to run around the house like a turkey* with its head cut off.

*I figured saying turkey instead of chicken would be festive, considering how close Thanksgiving is.  I'm a festive person, alright?

  1. Turkey is definitely more festive than chicken! :)

And I feel your frustration as far as walking into the kitchen a million times!
